Addis Ababa, 22 November 2017: The Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AU), H.E. Mr. Moussa Faki Mahamat, condemns in the strongest terms the terrorist attack carried out yesterday in Adamawa State in Nigeria, which killed at least 50 worshippers during the Muslim early morning prayers.
The Chairperson expresses the AU's heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wishes speedy recovery to those wounded. He reiterates the AU’s solidarity with the Government and people of Nigeria and all states of the Lake Chad Basin affected by the heinous acts of the Boko Haram terrorist group.
The Chairperson stresses the need for continued and enhanced support to the Multi-National Joint Task Force and G5-Sahel whose sole objective is to eliminate the threat of terrorism and boost stabilization efforts.
