Ndjamena, 4 April 2017: In fulfillment of its commitment to support the Countries of the Lake Chad Basin Commission, the African Union Commission handed over 129 Night Vision Goggles (NVGs) to the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) against Boko Haram, on the margins of the 3rd meeting of the AU-LCBC/MNJTF Joint Steering Committee (JSC), that took place in Ndjamena, Chad, from 3 to 4 April 2018. This equipment was pledged by the Government of Turkey.
On this Occasion, MNJTF Head of Mission expressed his gratitude to the AU for its continued support and mobilization of resources for the Force and assured that the Mission will make good use of this key equipment for the ongoing operations to degrade the Boko Haram terrorist group.
On 15 March 2018, the AU also handed over 61 vehicles of different types to MNJTF.
