Addis Ababa, 18 January 2013: The Commission of the African Union (AU) and the Government of the Republic of Djibouti today signed, at the AU Headquarters, in Addis Ababa, an Addendum to the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) governing Djibouti’s contribution of resources to the AU Mission in Somalia (AMISOM). The two sides also signed an agreement on the training by the AMISOM, Djibouti and the Italian Carabineer of Somali police personnel, at the Djiboutian Police Academy.
The Addendum and the Agreement were signed by Ambassador Ramtane Lamamra, Commissioner for Peace and Security, on behalf of the AU, and by Ambassador Mohamed Idriss Farah, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Djibouti to the AU, on behalf of the Republic of Djibouti.
It should be recalled that the Republic of Djibouti has contributed a battalion size contingent to AMISOM.
