Addis Ababa, 11th April 2013: Ambassador Ramtane Lamamra, Commissioner for Peace and Security, met with the Vice President of the Republic of Malawi, H.E. Khumbo Kachaliand who handed over to him a written message sent by President Joyce H. BANDA, President of the Republic of Malawi, to Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, Chairperson of the African Union Commission.

The two parties exchanged views on the peace and security situation in the continent, and the latest developments in some areas. Commissioner Lamamra praised the support and efforts of the Government of Malawi to all activities of the AU Commission, especially its active commitments in the area of peace and security on the continent. Commissioner conveyed the sincere appreciation of the AU on Malawi’s contribution to the peace keeping missions in Africa.

The two parties further discussed the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the OAU/AU, and the ongoing preparations taking place on both continental and country levels.
