The Peace and Security Council (PSC) of the African Union (AU) will  hold the 2nd Open Session on Youth, Peace and Security to review actions undertaken since the inaugural PSC open session on 8 November 2018 and explore modalities to facilitate meaningful participation of youth in peace and security for the promotion of durable peace, stability and security in Africa

Member States of the Peace and Security Council, all AU Member States, RECs/RMs,  the UN, AU partners and diplomatic missions represented in Addis Ababa, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs),  as well as youth representatives across the Continent.

To provide update on actions undertaken in furtherance of the PSC communiqué on 8 November 2019; present the study report on the roles and contributions of youth to peace and security in Africa for consideration and adoption by the PSC; present the five regional African Youth Ambassadors for Peace (AYAP); and, to submit the continental framework on Youth, Peace and Security (YPS), for the consideration and adoption by PSC. It is expected that the Session will enhance understanding, recognition and appreciation of youth roles and contributions in peace and security in Africa; consider and adopt the continental framework on YPS; and inaugurate the African Youth Ambassadors for Peace from the five regions of the Union
